9KM / 2 DAYS' HIKING
This 2-day adventure takes you into a magical, hidden ravine called the Wadi al Karak, a deep gorge filled with natural springs, hanging gardens, and waterfalls. After an early pick up in Amman we'll drive to Kerak, with a detailed safety briefing en route. The trail begins at a village called Mumya, from where we'll hike down to the canyon bed and follow the stream west. A couple of hours' walk brings you to the first series of waterfalls - 7m, 5m, and finally 30m high. We'll abseil down one by one and spend the afternoon playing in the pools, drinking hot tea, and pitching camp in this wild spot. In the evening we'll light a fire on the stones and enjoy dinner under the stars. The next morning we continue downstream into the narrowing, deepening canyon. The first waterfall comes towards the end of the morning's hike, and about half an hour after that you'll reach the most dramatic point in the journey: a spectacular 80m waterfall that we will abseil down one by one. Here we'll rest and enjoy lunch, and shower under the falls, before setting off for the final couple of hours walk down to the Dead Sea. Return to Amman by road, tired and exhilarated.
1 Breakfast, 2 Lunch, 1 Dinner and Water;
Make sure you have a good breakfast at your home/hotel. We will provide you with a simple snack lunch (2 Sandwiches, vegetable and fruit), we'll also provide each one with three liters of water to carry along. We very much recommend you bring some dates or dried fruits for a good and fast energy source, but make sure you put them in a water-proof container/bag (the kitchen zip-lock bag can be a solution).
We will be camping at a nice spot in the middle of the canyon. Please bring your own sleeping bags and mats.
Transportation from the meeting point and back;
Bus, your feet and our ropes =)
Two instructors and two assistants. This could vary depending on group size.
All our guides / tour leaders are Jordanian locals who have extensive knowledge of the local communities and terrain of the areas you will be visiting. We also make sure that they are properly trained in any specialized activities they may administer i.e. hiking, cycling etc. Your guide will also be in a position to provide information on the places you visit, recommend things to do and where to eat. At certain activities that require specialized expertise such as canyoneering or cycling, you will be joined by our canyoneering or cycling team.
